Job Overview

  • Responsible for Integrated Network Operations (data, voice, video and network cabling).
  • These teams support daily functions, ticketing, on-call, troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation and management of network cable and related infrastructure.
  • The position is responsible for ensuring all network components are at consistent releases of software and firmware and manages network services including DNS and DHCP, and security services including firewalls and ACL’s.
  • This position works closely and in collaboration with the Data Security Office ensuring established standards are met.
  • The Network and Computing Systems (NCS) organization manages and provides support for the University’s integrated network (data/telecommunications/video), data center production control for academic and administrative processing, systems management of enterprise server infrastructure and facilities infrastructure project management.
  • The Integrated Network Operations (INO) team is responsible for network services implementation and third-level technical support and includes the responsibilities of the Facilities Project Management (FPM) team who are responsible for oversight and change management of the University’s cable plant infrastructure.
  • These teams also work together to develop, present and manage projects for various University enterprise and departmental customers and provide the primary communication link to the Facilities division.

The combined INO services teams are responsible for operations support data/voice/video services and infrastructure, deployment of enterprise network equipment, monitoring of enterprise network performance and video conferencing.

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five Years of senior-level network engineering in a large, complex and diverse enterprise network.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP and network routing and switching protocols including OSPF, BGP, and MPLS is required.
  • Experience managing security systems such as Firewalls, VPNs and network services such as F5 Load Balancers.
  • Excellent interpretive and listening skills.
  • The ability to address and present technical issues to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Mastery of e-mail and office productivity tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software such as PowerPoint, engineering diagramming such as Visio.
  • Basic understanding of the statistical analysis and budgeting.
  • The ability to design, monitor and improve quality control procedures

  • Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification is desired.

Position Summary:

Segue Technologies, Inc. seeks a Systems Administrator to provide Windows system administration capabilities as well as Tier III helpdesk support as needed. This is a full-time position located at our client site in Washington, DC with travel to our client data centers in Hendon, VA and Reston, VA. This position will interface directly with customers and act as a liaison between users and all technical points of escalation, as well as provide regular status reports to management.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Perform and/or assist the Lead systems administrator with the following:

·         Install, configure, and reconfigure computers, servers, Virtual Machines (VMs) and network hardware

·         Maintenance and patch management of all computers, servers and network hardware (including installing windows updates and anti-virus definitions)

·         Monitor systems to detect failures, poor performance and determine system availability

·         Troubleshoot system failures, poor performance and correct accordingly to restore system availability

·         Ensure that the production environment is fully functional and is performing as specified

·         Ensure that systems and networks are running and available during the defined hours of operation

·         Schedule systems operations activities and tasks on a recurring basis to minimize user impact and system down time

·         Implement non-emergency service requests during scheduled outages (e.g. weekly maintenance windows)

·         Maintain a complete inventory of agency hardware, licensed software and systems.

·         Interface with other functional areas for day-to-day checks/corrections

·         Comply with and enforce Interconnection Security Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding

·         Ensure that service level objectives are kept accurate and are monitored

·         Ensure all processes, manual and automated, are documented in the operating procedures and comply with the system documentation

·         Monitor security controls and performance statistics, report the results, and escalate problems when they occur

·         Ensure regularly scheduled jobs are submitted and completed correctly

·         Perform configuration, security and design reviews/audits to ensure software, system, parameter, and configuration are correct and effectively support the needs of PFMD

·         Complete incident reports when there are any production system outages, identifying application(s) affected, duration of outage and cause

·         Maintain all IT resources in a secure manner in accordance with DOI NPS policies

·         Support the certification and accreditation of PFMD general support systems and major applications

·         Coordinate computer security incident reporting and response with the NPS OIR, Department of Interior and other federal agencies

·         Participate in meetings and conduct tests to fulfill Annual Security Control Testing requirements

·         Perform monthly vulnerability remediation and documentation of corrective measures

·         Additional tasks as required

 

Perform and/or assist help desk staff with the following:

·         Provide advanced application and desktop support to local and remote users possessing technical skills that range from limited experience to advanced knowledge

·         Provide hardware support and coordinate deployment of new and/or replacement hardware to local users (includes imaging laptops)

·         Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues

·         Perform incident tracking, including documentation of customer feedback, and status response to users

·         Implement established Help Desk processes

·         Ensure ticket entry and closure rates meet stated objectives and adhere to SLA (Service Level Agreement) specified response and resolution time windows through regular reporting

·         Assist in supporting and maintaining the client’s web applications (custom and COTS)

·         Additional tasks as required

 

Required Skills:

·         3 – 5 years systems administration experience

·         1 – 3 years help desk experience

·         Experience and expertise with networking, storage, servers and systems from Microsoft, Dell, HP and Barracuda

·         Experience with Windows desktop platforms (Windows 7, Windows 10)

·         Experience with Windows server platforms (2003, 2008 R2)

·         Basic Microsoft Hyper-V administration experience

·         Basic Active Directory user management

·         Ability to troubleshoot basic desktop, server, and network issues

·         Strong customer service skills

·         Exceptional written and oral communication skills

·         Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a favorable Department of Interior (DOI) NACI
