Oil Sample Laboratory Technician

Today, Kelly Services is searching for Chemistry Grads wishing to utilize their degree as an Oil Sample Laboratory Technician and join the team of a Fortune 500 oil company in Kansas City, KS, under a long term contract, performing oil sample analysis.
-Sample receiving and preparation
- Analyze oil samples using wet chemistry and instrumentation such as GC, ICP, and FTIR
-Follow Standard Operating Procedures SOP s and safety guidelines
-Conducts standardized physical and chemical tests applicable to a wide range of products and product applications.
-Provides daily instrument test results and contributes to the completion of daily sample login responsibilities.
-Monitors the quality of test data by applying instrument data review; refers to work instructions or standard operating procedures, as necessary.
- Collects and enters, or sends, test results into the Global Used Oil Analysis Laboratory Information Management System GUOALIMS .
-Supports Quality Practices Guidelines QP G in the facility by compliance with Data Integrity Assurance Framework DIAF , Quality Assurance, Statistical Quality Control SQC and other applicable procedures and guidelines.
- Maintains integrity of recorded laboratory results.
- Maintains work area to facility housekeeping standards.
- Participates in physical shift changeover or information transfer via logbook.
- Receives, opens, sorts and logs in daily samples as necessary.
- Conveys instrument test results and other issues to appropriate personnel
-Attends and participates in monthly Operations Integrity Management System OIMS meetings addressing facility Safety, Security, Health Environment SSH E requirements.
-Works together with other team members to provide monthly safety/housekeeping inspections.
- Participates in Loss Prevention Systems LPS Tools activities.
- Secures instrument certifications via the Collective Experience Matrix CEM .
-Receives OIMS training annually.
-Participates in assigned OIMS activities.
Pay Rate: 15.50
- B.S. Chemistry or Biology is REQUIRED
- Some lab experience required, can be academic lab experience
- Desire to learn how to use lab instruments
- Must be able to understand and follow SOP's
- Must be positive, pro-active and a team player
-Due to the entry level nature of the position MS and Ph.D. candidates will not be considered

Associates degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required, plus a minimum of five years of service industry experience managing service operations and / or service scheduling. Must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently and demonstrate solid organizational and attention to detail skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external clients. Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence. Able to prioritize work activities based upon financial impact to desired business goals. Experience and/or basic project accounting or costing principals is desired. Able to influence diverse teams to accomplish tasks/goals.
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL: Under general supervision, coordinates customer service requests, from initiation to service completion, and maximizing technical resource productivity and profitability by efficiently scheduling and dispatching Technicians with guidance from the STM and Team Leads. Partners effectively with the Service Team Manager to ensure technical service work is completed in a reasonable timeframe and to the customers expectations. Analyzes and assesses technical team performance and makes adjustments as needed to enhance customer satisfaction in a cost effective manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. Receives customer requests for unscheduled or scheduled service. Determines customer needs and matches appropriate Technician or Team Lead to the need. Communicates the action plan and services to be provided directly to the customer. Ensures work has been performed to the customers expectations and performs follow-up with the customer, as needed. Answers any customer inquiries and resolves or escalates customer issues, as appropriate. 2. Upon completion, reconciles all service requests daily. 3. Coordinates labor scheduling to align technician to the appropriate customer and service need. Ensures Technicians are provided daily schedules. Maintains consistent communication with assigned Technicians. Follows up on activities to ensure completion in an established timeframe. 4. Assists with creation of L&M quotations. 5. Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors. 6. Prepares yearly, monthly and weekly execution plans for PSA scheduled service visits. 7. Participates in business review meetings by preparing and discussing critical account information pertinent to current profitability status (i.e. outstanding claims, PSA variance, Accounts Receivable issues) and customer satisfaction issues. Researches and follows up on questions identified during monthly business review. 8. Ensures that all customer account information required to support call management activities and scheduling of tasks are kept up to date in NxGen. 9. Facilitates administration of warranty claims. 10. May guide and prioritize the activities of the Customer Service Agent Assistants. Periodically performs duties of the Customer Service Agent Assistant as overflow demands. 11. Other duties and administrative activities as assigned
