Title: Applications Performance Management (APM) Analytics Engineer

Job Location: Phoenix, AZ

Job Description:

Our customer is seeking a highly technical Applications Performance Management (APM) Analytics Engineer that requires a thorough understanding of company’s operating environment.  The APM Analytics Engineer is well versed in scripting languages that conform to scripting best-practices and will use innovative problem-solving approaches to proactively tackle a broad range of problems and translates them into acceptable solutions to meet the IT and Business needs.


  • Work directly with middleware and database teams to improve overall application performance
  • Create reports and dashboards demonstrating the overall application environment health
  • Perform system administration work on various APM platforms deployed including new JVMs into APM monitoring, Lifecycle (Upgrades, new installations), tuning of the APM platform
  • Develop a comprehensive roadmap for APM
  • Analyzes and identifies system and application variables and can utilize tools to identify differences between operating environments
  • Able to guide others in adaptive problem solving through the use of the CA Introscope, Splunk, Oracle Enterprise Manager and other analytical tools
  • Able to communicate with customers and business partners and influence others to build consensus and achieve customer objectives


  • B.S. in a technical field, Computer Science preferred
  • Minimum 3 years technical hands-on experience with APM tools
  • Minimum 3 years technical experience with Java J2EE Middleware platforms such as Weblogic (Fusion), Websphere, JBoss
  • Strong Experience integrating with application logs and centralized logging aggregators such as SyslogNG
  • Minimum 3 years technical experience with enterprise monitoring and capacity planning tools
  • Minimum 3 years administrative experience with RHEL, Windows, AIX and Solaris systems administration
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with application development
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with scripting
  • Possesses broad technical knowledge of server and application architectures
  • Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives of which they will apply their applicable business, technical and system functionality background
  • Strong ability to document completely and accurately at all levels of solution development and implementation, following procedural steps, as directed, to assure compliance with Federal guidelines, policies, and laws, including those that drive Sarbanes Oxley and internal company policies
  • Can work independently and lead teams with a multi-disciplinary makeup
  • Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action
  • Genuine desire to provide superior customer service
  • Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis
  • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
