Title: Data Solution Architect
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: 6 months (Contract to hire)
Job description:
  • Expertise in healthcare data standards
  • Experience with medical claims and clinical systems
  • Data modeling.
  • Data architecture development, including operational data stores, data    warehouses, data marts.
  • Data governance.
  • Data migration -- Industry standard exchange formats (837PACD, HL7) to   relational models
Essential Job Functions:
  • Anticipates and resolves data integration issues for technical infrastructures of all complexities.
  • Advises and leads the translation of business requirements and models into feasible and acceptable data warehouse designs; designs and builds appropriate data repositories and data movements (dimensional databases) to ensure that business needs are met.
  • Leads the design, and oversees the implementation of data transformation and change processing procedures to ensure that data from multiple sources is aggregated, normalized, and updated, and then published to multiple target environments.
  • Consults with clients and/or leads team on the most complex database projects. Designs internal and external data interfaces to ensure that database development needs are according to client specifications; coordinates with clients, external data providers, and business team to ensure that business model is accurately represented and understood by all relevant parties.
  • Defines, develops, and implements data standards and policies, data modeling, systems architecture design, and migration system architectures to ensure access to and integrity of data assets.
  • Provides thought leadership for database management systems (DBMS) use, design and implementation.
  • Coordinates and manages activities of multiple database management systems (DBMS) resources on a large project or account.
  • Educates and provides methodology consulting to client and organization personnel.
  • Provides work guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel. Provides database related technical expertise to application development and global infrastructure efforts. Organizes and motivates project teams. Ensures communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments, and objectives. Prepares periodic reports regarding unit activities and goal attainment progress.
  • Provides input to development of vision, specifies key performance requirements and defines technical critical success factors.
  • Assumes a lead role in influencing client expectations and ensuring client satisfaction in area of responsibility and related issues.
  • Contributes to engagements on a national level based upon recognized expertise in selected disciplines.
  • Participates in proposal efforts and creates strategies to win business in new markets or current accounts.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or related field preferred                   
  • 12 or more years of experience in data/database architecture               
  • Experience working with medical domain structures          
  • Experience working with differences between database structures (e.g., transaction based vs. data warehouse)                  
  • Experience working with software packages or classes of packages within technical expertise          
  • Ability to deal with and resolve ambiguity               
  • Ability to think strategically, balancing long and short-term priorities  
  • Willingness to travel.
