Title: Director, Business Development and Strategy

Our Client is a membership-based organization representing over 160 venture capital and private equity firms. Client is seeking a Director of Business Development and Strategy for its New York headquarters office. The position represents an opportunity to shape the future of organisation during a period of expansion, working alongside the Executive Director.
The Director of Business Development and Strategy will lead and support ongoing business initiatives and new product launches and shape organizational strategy with senior management.
-Organize, coordinate, and execute launches for new organisation initiatives in 2015. Create new products and services alongside organisation’s senior management (including but not limited to: events for Members in Latin America, the US and Europe; products for Member firms such as educational reports and directories; and developing programs with other non-profit organizations, trade groups, Member firms, government entities, and universities.)
-Develop relationships with a wide range of private equity and venture capital industry participants and stakeholders (institutional investors, development finance institutions, governments, educators, trade organizations, private equity investors, law firms, investment banks, and other service providers) expand organisation’s network of members, sponsors, and strategic and commercial partners.
-Represent organisation in the media, at conferences, and other industry gatherings globally.
Salary commensurate with experience plus competitive benefits and bonus package.
Desired Skills & Experience:
-5-7 years’ experience building client relationships and developing strategies for growth within management consulting, financial services/investment, a not-for-profit organization, a trade association, a government entity, or other
-Bachelor's degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required
-Knowledge of Latin American markets (Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, etc.) or experience working in or with companies/firms based in Latin America.
-Knowledge of alternative investments (private equity and venture capital) preferred but not required -Bilingual English and Spanish and/or Portuguese (very important)
-Strong strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset - the most successful employees at organisation are creative minded and are able to come up with ideas which they see through to implementation. companyis a small team so it is important that everyone pulls their weight and is passionate about the overall mission of the organization.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to write effectively and communicate verbally (experience as a relationship manager would be a plus)
-Looking for someone who can evolve with the position over time and who is able to stay with the organization long-term
*Relevant candidates could have a background in financial services with knowledge of alternatives OR have experience in the non-profit sector (we would consider candidates from outside the financial services industry with relevant non-profit background)
