Position : Production Support Engineer with ETL/Teradata
Location: Temple Terrace , FL
Duration: 12+ months
Candidate would be providing 1st level application support for Verizon Wireless' Precision Data Warehouse and analytical appliances. This includes monitoring the daily data load process, installing application scripts, maintaining job schedule, working trouble tickets and working closely with other interfacing and development support teams.
Rotating 24x7 on-call support required.
Minimum 2 to 4 yrs exp in Tech. Support. with strong Unix, Shell scripting experience. Knowledge in Teradata DB will be an advantage.
Must be flexible, motivated self starter able to work with minimal supervision, and have both excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced production support environment
Rotating 24x7 on-call support required
Must be responsive and have a sense of urgency
Previous experience in providing 24 X 7 application production support
Must be capable of doing extensive research and trouble-shooting of application and data related issues
Knowledge of VZTracker, Trouble and customer request system, would be a plus
Working knowledge of FTP and Direct Connect (NDM)
Must be able to work closely with internal user communities and development groups to drive and resolve customer-impacting issues
Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and installs new applications and programs
- Uses coding methods in specific programming languages to initiate or enhance program execution and functionality
- Monitor program execution for expected performance
- Respond to errors and emergencies within applications and programs
- Provide first-tier support to end users for IT applications
- Perform installation of code releases and patches and write scripts or programs for IT applications
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of databases and systems
- Complete the necessary documentation for business cases, process, analysis, functional requirements, and testing as needed
- Facilitate planning and functional design sessions to support requirements and business solutions 4 year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of Technical Support experience Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: mobility, telephony, networking.
