Overall management and responsibility for the UNIX/Linux architecture ensuring all operational tasks are managed, documented, and industry best practices are leveraged. Partner with various stakeholders within the bank to ensure project related tasks are managed and coordinated. Management and administration of the bank’s UNIX Solaris/Linux environment including but not limited to patching, troubleshooting, account management, and security. Installation and support of all third-party tools which reside on the OS including both application middleware and performance/security monitoring tools. May be required to provide some Windows Server 2008 support as needed. Configure and install new servers, devices, and peripherals. Monitors and corrects hardware issues involving, disk, memory, and CPU. Install and configure all UNIX & Linux OS related patches and system upgrades as prescribed by Bank standards. Adhere to a strict change management policy to ensure timely notification, testing and approval for all system related changes that impact the environment. Partner with User Support (help desk), to handle escalated calls and to also provide training for basic tasks that may be appropriately handled at the User Support level. Partner with the Sr. UNIX Administrator for knowledge sharing. Work with the Sr. UNIX Administrator to document, draft and maintain Solaris/Linux server procedures including but not limited to security, patching, standard operating procedures, server checklists, etc. regarding the Solaris/Linux environment. Report weekly the status of ongoing tasks, and responsibilities to his/her manager. Of paramount importance is the strict adherence to policies and procedures in a highly regulated banking environment. Providing backup coverage during the Sr. UNIX Administrator’s absence. Ensure that detailed inventories and maintenance agreements are available and in place for all Solaris/Linux devices. Develop and maintain technical documentation for system and user support staff regarding all system issues. Respond to critical issues as needed to support the technical infrastructure during off-hours ensuring business continuity.
